Celebrating 50 Years of Making Music

On May 17, 2025, The Seven Dutchmen Orchestra celebrated their 50th anniversary by performing at the Maifest at the historic Anhalt Halle, which was simultaneously celebrating their 150th anniversary. Anhalt Halle is an historic German immigrant community hall, founded by the Schützenverein (Shooting Club) in the 1800’s. It served as a social hall, a dance venue, a meeting place for German settlers, and a cultural anchor for the surrounding communities of Bergheim, Kendalia, and Spring Branch.

Today Anhalt is primarily a gathering place for public dances, weddings, and private events, as well as the German festivals of Maifest and Oktoberfest. Anhalt is a living remnant of German-Texan culture, where you can dance on a century old wooden floor, enjoy a hearty German meal, or watch the festivities with a cold beer in your hand.

It was especially meaningful to the band because their mission is to continue the tradition of German polkas and waltzes being played for people to enjoy listening and dancing along. And what better place to be a part of history and carrying on the culture?

The video that was being shown during the celebration can be watched here. It is the first 50 years of the Seven Dutchmen Orchestra in photos. We hope you enjoy it!
